About Author

I’ve been playing in bands, off and on, since I was seventeen. That started back in Denver, where I went to high school for a couple of years. If we ever gave the band a name, I don’t remember it.

I’m originally from Minneapolis, but I’ve been living in Germany for quite a while now; long enough to think in kilometers and Celsius, though I still use cups and tablespoons when I cook.

In the ’90s, I co-founded Blue Manner Haze and Mad Tongues. These days, I play with Sloe Gin—we call it American Highway Music (whatever that means).

I started writing short stories in the late ’90s and got hooked on the feel of playing a story out in my head. Around 2005, during a break between bands, I published my first novel, Ponopolis.

More than ten years later, I found myself drawn back to that world. I’d had too much fun in the dark little city of Ponopolis to leave it alone for good. I’ve always loved noir crime fiction, so turning a story about a band into a crime saga just came naturally.
